HAPPY HANSON WEEK 2015 RE-CAP!!

My previous post is a little bit of a downer and I owe Hanson more than that. It just goes to show what a die hard Fanson I have become because my little heart literally broke in two when the live streams ended up choppy and basically "un-watchable" Saturday evening. It shattered into a million tiny pieces to read on the Hanson app that others were having such "smooth sailing" with the streams when I felt angry and upset all night trying to follow what was going on and trying to enjoy the stream. It literally felt like the "end of the world." I was thrilled to learn that the streams would re-stream all day Sunday but they were still glitching like crazy when I tried watching them again.

I decided to try my luck today and made my way to the "Member's Only" live stream page at Hanson.net. Maybe just maybe they were still streaming. Miracle of miracles they WERE and I am THRILLED to report that I have watched both streams over with hardly ANY glitches!! I am ecstatic!! I LOVED them! I am SO happy and grateful that I got to really experience what I had not been able to on Saturday. The concert was so worth the choppiness from the day before. It also reaffirmed to me that I absolutely HAVE to get myself to at least one Hanson concert at some point in my life. Bucket list. Life goals. They are a freaking BLAST live and just amazing!!!

I literally recorded half of the concert on my iPod (to the point where I ran out of space!). I will have these videos to cherish for years to come! I wish I filmed some of the "State of the Band" because they were hilarious (as usual)!

Some memorable quotes from Hanson's "State of the Band" talk:

(referring to a fans question about tours of 3CG): "It will have to go to the jedi council." - Zac (he would, hahahaha)

(talking about the difficulty of choosing a favorite song after another fan's question): "This is like asking someone what their favorite pie is....you just can't choose one.....it's cherry." - Taylor (bahahaha, so Taylor!)

(part of Zac's analogy of songs and writing songs): "The people are drinking the water from the bucket and I am feeding them with my fluids!" - Zac

The concert, start to finish, was too amazing for words. I can't do it justice trying to describe it, you literally had to "be there." And I'm so grateful I was given that second chance :)

Top Favorite Songs from the Hanson Day Concert (not in any particular order):

Give Me Your Best Shot (*new)
What Are We Fighting For (*new)
Been There Before
On and On
Lonely Again (probably my favorite of the night....I don't know why, they just sounded so amazing during this one, all three were on point).
Call Me (Ike solo)
Need You Now (Zac solo)
Lost Without You (Tay solo)
Grace Unknown (*new)
Sound of Light
Rock n' Roll Razorblade
White Collar Crime
Hey (Encore performance)

I am just feeling overwhelmed with gratitude right now. It is literally a tender mercy and a small miracle (as far as I'm concerned) that this happened. It feels like it happened just for me. That the stream just kept looping. I know that's silly, but I had wanted this so bad and just felt so sad not able to have enjoyed it the way I had wanted to Saturday. Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Next year, I'm going to be there in person!!

HAPPY HANSON WEEK 2015!

I just finished watching Hanson's "State of the Band" talk. As much as I loved it, I'm also feeling extremely disappointed. It was so incredibly choppy and I feel like I missed out on the whole thing. I could barely focus on what they were saying because they kept getting cut off and then it seemed the whole thing would just move forward to a completely new topic. I'm feeling really, really sad about it :( I was so looking forward to these streams tonight since I had a bit of a rough night last night.

BUT: looking on the bright side, I did make my I Heart Hanson sugar cookies (I did NOT use the recipe included nor did I wear my I heart Hanson shirt or Hanson apron and oven mitts while baking) and they turned out DELISH! I will have to post the recipe I used, it turns out perfectly every time and is so, so good. I wore my I heart Hanson shirt to watch the stream though :)

Some exciting/fun things that I DID catch during the stream includes:

  • A covers album....what!? I didn't hear too much information on this (stupid glitching) but they said something about covering songs from Oklahoma!? YES! PLEASE!!!
  • A collaboration song they did with Owl City!!!
  • They discussed some of their favorite songs and Taylor mentioned Strong Enough to Break (my favorite) and the Underneath album in general (my favorite)
  • Isaac chose A Song to Sing (another favorite of mine)
  • Zac literally could not choose :)
  • Zac was being hilarious as usual (though I missed most of what he was saying and doing :( So sad)
  • They mentioned a US TOUR!!! Dates coming in JUNE!
  • They announced the MOEY winners (Only one person I voted for won, haha. It was the girl who re-created the MMMBop video (single solo video) she totally deserved it!) I wasn't able to catch most of who won due to the stupid technical glitching problem, UGH!
All in all, I guess I could say I had fun (mostly disappointed though.....I'm trying not to be so bummed out but I had such big plans and I was so excited....and I feel like I missed so much and it made me feel so jealous and sad not getting to be at Hanson Day in person....not to mention they started the stream 30 minutes late.....sorry about this pity party I'm throwing myself). If the glitching is as bad as it was during the "State of the Band", I think I'm going to have to clock out for the concert. It's too frustrating and I don't want to feel upset for the rest of the night. It's not worth it. I really, really, really hope it's not glitchy though!! I really want to watch it!! I have been so looking forward to all of this!!!

*UPDATE*5/16/15 @ 6:58 PM: As I am now relaxing with a bowl of warm beef stew, after finishing baking my cookies, anxiously awaiting the concert, I just read that the streams are going to be RE-STREAMED ALL DAY TOMORROW!!! :))) I am SOOOOO excited and HAPPY!!!!

*UPDATE*5/16/15 @ 7:44 PM: Beyond disappointed right now :( The concert stream is even worse than the "State of the Band" I can't hear any of the songs because of the constant glitching and it's driving me completely crazy!! I'm so sad :(

*UPDATE*5/16/15 @ 9:06 PM: Why it was worth watching the whole choppy, glitchy concert stream: Lost Without You (Taylor), On and On, Need You Now (Zac), Call Me (Isaac's solo), Been There Before (with "When you can't get through it, listen to it" added during the na na na's), White Collar Crime, Sound of Light (a new one for me), Roller Coaster Love (another new one for me) and the Encore performance of Hey. If it wasn't for the horrible glitching, this would have been one epic "bedroom concert" (that might sound...strange, but I think you know what I mean, haha). They were on fire tonight, from Tay's flying fingers on the keyboard, crazy, head-banging Zac and guitar extraordinaire Isaac, it was on point!

HAPPY 15TH ANNIVERSARY TTA!!

HAPPY 15TH ANNIVERSARY TO HANSON'S THIS TIME AROUND ALBUM!

Wow! I CAN NOT believe TTA has been around for exactly 15 years! I was only7 years old when this album came out. I love, love, love TTA! The songs are all so diverse. I honestly love this entire CD start to finish. Dying to be Alive  holds a very special place in my heart. It is one of the most inspiring songs ever written I believe. A Song to Sing is another one of those special songs that I heard and just sat there and thought "Wow. Somebody gets it. My life is changed....for the better." Sure About It is a song I related to instantly (and still do!). If Only will always be special to me because of the fond memories I have of my sister and I dancing around and singing along to it as we baked or washed dishes together. You Never Know is probably the most quoted song between my sister and I :) Wish That I Was There is the song that showed me just how much Zac had grown up between the two albums. He sounds almost exactly like Tay! Runaway Run is another classic. Save Me is so beautiful and I can picture it being in so many different chick flick movies :) Such a great piece of musical genius! Such a wonderful, inspiring, incredible album! I just love it!! It deserved WAY more credit than it got. Way more.

Saturday, May 9
Listen to Hanson! Particularly their "This Time Around" era. Singles: If Only & This Time Around. Also: Wake Up from Disney's The Princess Diaries and the song Smile from Malcolm in the Middle. Both great songs! Funny story: I've owned the Princess Diaries soundtrack pretty much since it came out and for so many years I had no idea who Hanson was until just recently! I remember listening to the PD soundtrack on a road trip with some of my best friends in our late elementary school/early jr. high days and when "Wake Up" would come on we would sing "Wiggle! Tell me it's alright, Wiggle!" Don't ask me why, we thought we were hilarious! Haha. Good times. Who would've thought years later I would be listening to (and loving) that song today!

HAPPY HANSON WEEK!

I'm just gonna be real honest here....I can't stand Zac's hair in this Hanson era!! It's so long! And inmy opinion not flattering on him at all. Why Zac!? WHY!?

HAPPY HANSON DAY!!

HAPPY, HAPPY HANSON DAY!!!

Today is the "birthday" of the most incredible band in the entire world, HANSON! 18 years ago today Hanson's Middle of Nowhere came out, May 6, 1997. And in an MMMBop, they changed everything!

Being an extremely new fan to a band that has been around longer than half my lifetime, I am continually amazed and my admiration and genuine love for this band and the incredible music they have created over these past 18 years just grows exponentially. They are a true success story in my book.

I am thankful every day to have come across this fantastic band. Never knew watching TV could be so inspiring ;) I was watching an episode of Cupcake Wars one day when I saw three, cute brothers come out as the guest judges. I was so impressed with them, I looked them up and I was hooked! They are now a huge part of my life! And I couldn't be happier :) I mean, have you been reading this blog? More than half of my posts have been Hanson related. Their songs have changed my life in a way. (Check out my post about Hanson Day EXACTLY ONE YEAR AGO FROM TODAY!!!)

Today I took my dog out on his daily walk and listened to two songs from each of the Hanson albums:

Middle of Nowhere

1. MMMBop (of course)

Snowed In (yes, I was listening to Christmas songs in May....don't judge me!)

This Time Around

1. This Time Around
2. A Song to Sing

Underneath

1. Underneath
2. Strong Enough to Break

The Walk

1. The Walk
2. Watch Over Me

Shout It Out

1. Waiting for This

Anthem

1. Scream and Be Free
2. Tonight

Music Made for Humans (FAN CLUB 2014 EP)

1. On the Road
2. Panic in the Streets

I chose each of these songs 1) as the featured track title of the album it was named after and 2) an additional song that I just love a whole lot. It was really tricky narrowing that selection down!

Listening to these songs in order, from their oldest album to their most current music was so awesome! It just really shows how far they've come and that they have yet to disappoint.

I also spent the day cleaning my disaster of a room and listening to *NEW* Hanson songs I had never heard before! 18 years of music requires a lot of catching up! My favorites include: Make Believe, Lay Me Down, Hope it Comes Soon (this one is my favorite!), I Almost Care, & Coming Back for More.

I love this band. More than words can adequately express. Thank you for everything Hanson! Keep rocking!

The song that started it all....

I was literally hooked in an MMMBop ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE WONDERFUL, AMAZING, ONE-AND-ONLY TAYLOR HANSON!!!

I honestly CAN NOT believe he is 30-freaking-2 years old! He was the sweetest, most adorable 14 year old boy who ever lived!

So cute then and still so cute now :) He has aged beautifully!

Enjoy Taylor's montage of songs throughout the years!

Tuesday Morning

Song: Tuesday Morning
Artist: Michelle Branch

This is a super random song I recently came across by Michelle Branch but I really like it.
Happy Tuesday! :)

I remember stormy weather
The way the sky looks when it's cold
And you were with me
Content with walking
So unaware of the world

Please don't drive me home tonight
'Cause I don't wanna feel alone
Please don't drive me home tonight
'Cause I don't wanna go

Tuesday morning
In the dark
I was finding out
Who you are

I took your picture
While you were sleeping
And then I paced around the room
If I had known then
That these things happen
Would they have happened with you?

Please don't drive me home tonight
'Cause I don't wanna feel alone
Please don't drive me home tonight
'Cause I don't wanna go

Tuesday morning
In the dark
I was finding out
Who I was

And if you turned around to see me and I was gone
You should have looked outside your window
'Cause the sun was coming up
The sun was coming up

Please don't drive me home tonight
'Cause I don't wanna feel alone

Tuesday morning
In the dark
We were finding out
Who we are

Tuesday morning
In the dark
We were finding out
Who we are
Who we are
Who we are
Who we are

Black Balloon

Song: Black Balloon
Artist: Goo Goo Dolls

Confession: I love me some Goo Goo Dolls. John Rzeznik has that scratchy, rocker kind of voice that just gets me! I don't know, it's just an awesome sound! AJ is my favorite Backstreet Boy for that very reason ;) I don't know too many of the Goo Goo Dolls songs, but the ones I do know I have been obssessed with these past couple of days. Especially Black Balloon. I don't know what it is about this song, it's such a sad song (and I think it's about someone with a drug addiction) but I just really love it. And I've been listening to it a lot lately.

Baby's black balloon makes her fly
I almost fell into that hole in your life
And you're not thinking 'bout tomorrow
Cuz you were the same as me
But on your knees

A thousand other boys could never reach you
How could I have been the one?
I saw the world spin beneath you
And scatter like ice from the spoon that was your womb

Comin' down the world turned over
And angels fall without you there
And I go on as you get colder
Or are you someone's prayer?

You know the lies they always told you
And the love you never knew
What's the things they never showed you
That swallow the light from the sun inside your room, yeah

Comin' down the world turned over
And angels fall without you there
And I go on as you get colder
Always someone there

And there's no time left for losin'
When you stand they fall, yeah

Comin' down the world turned over
And angels fall without you there
And I go on as you get colder
All because I'm

Comin' down the years turn over
And angels fall without you there
And I'll go on and I'll lead you home and
All because I'm
All because I'm
And I'll become
What you became to me
