Taking the Walk

Here are a few fun videos I found on youtube from fans who took the walk and were lucky enough to talk with the guys. They seem like they would be so cool to talk to, really down to earth and genuine.

They were HERE LITERALLY ONE MONTH before I knew who they were!!! :O Taylor is SO awesome and could totally be an inspirational speaker! GO TAYLOR!! I love how dedicated they have been to this. Doing these walks since 2007!? Incredible. Man, I wish I could have been here! What awesome, awesome people. I just have one question....WHERE IS ISAAC!? :( This video is GREAT, definitely worth watching!

 

 

Here are some of my favorite quotes from this amazing little video. Some are funny and some are just Taylor being amazing :)

 

Taylor: "We've walked in the rain....which sometimes is kind of fun, actually."

 

Taylor: "We've had lots of coverage, lots of press lots of stories about the Walk and it's awesome when you see someone say 'what are you doing?' you can tell them but first and foremost - "

Zac: "But first they say 'why aren't you wearing your shoes?'"

Taylor: "In fact we got berated in New Orleans, like five different people stopped and said 'why are you doing this?' We're like 'deal with it.'"

Zac: "Why do you do Mardi Gras?"

Taylor: "We like alcohol and booze."

 

Taylor: "Because we've all grown up in this amazing country, even if you have problems with this country it's STILL an amazing country and we need to keep making it an amazing country by taking leadership but we all....get kinda glazed over. I mean, we're marketed to by our friends. 'Hey, follow me on facebook.' I mean, you're my friend! Why do you frickin' care about....I mean you got like how many people following you?"

Zac: "I'm your follower...are you starting a cult?"

Taylor: "Your dry cleaner is like 'Hey you should follow us and you can get some rewards.' Everywhere we look it's like do this! buy this! do this! buy this! And so when you talk about causes we all have this reaction of repelling it. Kinda like, 'Whoa. Don't get in my wallet.' That's why we're not asking for your wallet. We're asking for your feet. We're asking for your presence."

 

Taylor: "When you finish this mile and you slip your shoes back on, just think for a second what it's like, when that's just not an option. Period."

 

Taylor: "Doing something, just like this, to get things done and cause the statistic to change. What you're doing is your connecting with YOU, on the other side of the water. In a country far away from clean streets....by the way these are very clean streets. Ha, ok, they're like 'We're in Salt Lake we know everything's clean(?) [I think that's what he says, I can't really tell :) Still funny] Ha, their REALLY clean."

Zac: "Probably some of the nicest streets we've walked on."

Taylor: "These are some of the nicest streets we've walked."

 

Taylor: "You don't have to be here, you guys can all leave! Don't leave."

 

Taylor: "And on that note, watch for whatever might be in this park."

 

Taylor: "I would encourage you again, and I'm gonna say this one more time, if you haven't taken your shoes off, I'm not gonna tell you to take your shoes off, I would ask you to ask yourself, why you haven't. Right? Why haven't you, ok? We're thankful for everyone being here, regardless. But I would just....ask you." 

Zac: "There's a lot of bare feet here today."

Taylor: Yeah. Yeah, there are by the way! This is a SOLID walk today."

Zac: "Thank you guys."

Taylor: "So [referring to someone up front] I'm singling you out apparently."
